Due to the loss of some of our tutors there will be NO further computer courses on Tuesday afternoon. However the Workshop (Thursday am) and a weekly repair session (Thursday pm) will be unaffected. The Workshop activity is handled in several groups, and consists of a combined question & answer plus short presentations, given by one of the available tutors for about a 3/4 hour session per group simultaniously. The courses are intended as a coordinated teaching model for various subjects, while the FixIt session is intended to cater for repairs and software installations. It is essential to book at the office for the courses and FixIt sessions.
This group was established in 1996 with an objective to help members understand and use their computers. Early in 1998 the Centre purchased a computer, with the long term objective of setting up a small computer user laboratory as well as a Website.
With extensive support from the Council, this objective has been achieved and exceeded. We now have 11 computers, all with scanner/printers, a web site, digital cameras, projector display unit and screen and a DVD unit.
Basic computer courses have been developed and introduced as well as other subject courses. The basic courses have been a sell out, and several advanced courses have been prepaired and made available.
The series of courses are run in blocks, commence January, April, July & October each year. Any experienced tutors willing to take a course in their favourite subject would be welcome. Please note that all fees from the courses go to the Centre, and are used in part to purchase additional Computer Equipment.
If you have a requirement for a particular course please enquire, and if there are at least 6-8 members requesting it, and a tutor is available, it will be provided where possible.
